State-of-the-Art Obesity Management in the Primary Care Setting

Overview

Welcome to the Obesity Care Hub on management of overweight and obesity in the primary care setting, developed in collaboration with expert physicians in weight management, UChicago Center for CME, and the Academy for Continued Healthcare Learning (ACHL).

Clinicians in the primary care setting may not be up to date on guideline recommendations for managing patients with overweight and obesity, and may be uncomfortable addressing weight with patients, leading to suboptimal treatment strategies. Through this hub, primary care providers will deepen their understanding of obesity as a chronic, relapsing disease that requires patient-focused discussion, long-term management, and continual follow-up to aid patients on their health care journey.

This hub provides everything you need whether you’re a practitioner looking to train as an educator for your team or other sites, looking to access personalized CME, or a hospital/clinic looking to support your educational programming.

This hub provides 3 pathways to meet your needs:

1

Become an Obesity Management Educator. Access our training portal and content library through which you can either opt-in to our directory to deliver content to other sites, or train on materials for yourself and/or present to your team.

2

Design your personalized education from a library of 150+ slides and earn CME/CE. Broaden your knowledge and improve the multidisciplinary care and outcomes of patients with overweight and obesity.

3

Schedule an educator to present virtually to your team.

Become an educator

Our approach to training is founded in the CDC Training of Trainers (ToT) framework, which prepares healthcare practitioners to present information effectively, respond to participant questions, and lead sessions that reinforce learning.

Design my education

Access our robust, online content library and design your own educational experience powered by ACHL CustomED®.

Find an educator

Schedule a live virtual presentation with a trained educator. This opportunity is intended for hospitals, clinics, societies, and more. Or, by completing the training pathway, one of your practitioners can train to become an Obesity Management Educator and present to your team!
